If you have not owned a home in the last three years or more, You qualify as a “first-time home buyer”.
Eligible Properties: This must by your primary residences, and includes: single-family homes, townhomes, condos, and co-ops.
The Amount of Tax Credit is determined by: 10% of the purchase price of the home, up to $8,000. Single buyers can have an income up to $75,000 and married buyers can have an income up to $150,000. To qualify for a refinance, you must:
Have a loan guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. Call Fannie at 1-800-7FANNIE and Freddie at 1-800-FREDDIE to find out if you have this type of guaranteed mortgage loan.
Owe 80-105% of your mortgage. If you are under water and owe more that 105% of your home's value, you may not qualify.
Have a conforming or high balance conforming loan. Conforming Loan limits are between $417,000 and $729,500 depending on the area.
